Daniel Petre is a hugely successful businessman in the computer industry, having set up Microsoft in Australia and been Bill Gates's right-hand man at Microsoft headquarters in Seattle, USA. On his return to Australia Daniel ran the Asia-Pacific division of Microsoft before retiring in 1996 to spend more time with his family. From corporate workaholic to devoted family man and all this before the age of forty!
Daniel is now Chairman of ecorp, a subsidiary of Publishing, Broadcasting Ltd (i.e. he answers to Jamie Packer), working three days a week, as well as being a board member of a variety of government and commercial organisations. He is the author of "Father Time" and co-author of "The Clever Country?", and is currently completing a PhD on the topic of senior executives and the balance between work and family.
