Colm Tóibín was born in Ireland in 1955, and lives in Dublin. He is the author of four novels, including the 1999 Booker nominated The Blackwater Lightship. His non-fiction includes Bad Blood, Homage to Barcelona, The Sign of the Cross, and Love in a Dark Time.
Colm's most recent novel, The Master, was shortlisted for the prestigious 2004 Man Booker Prize for Fiction and won the 2005 LA Times Novel of the Year.
His book of short stories, Mothers and Sons, was released in October 2006.
