Carol Ann Duffy was born in Glasgow in 1955. She grew up in Stafford and attended the University of Liverpool. She has received many awards for her collections including both the Forward and the Whitbread. Her last collection, "The World's Wife" was in the top 5 bestselling poetry titles in the year of publication. She lives in Manchester where she lectures on poetry for the Writing School at Manchester Metropolitan University.
